Open science

Open Science relies on the opportunities offered by digital transformation to ensure “free dissemination of results, methodologies, and products of scientific research”*. UBFC is committed to contributing to this national and international sharing dynamic.
Open Science is a fundamental movement, initiated by the scientific community and supported by political and civic wills. Open Science promotes free access to knowledge. It is therefore based on transparency, sharing, collaborative work and the reuse of data in all its forms.
This initiative raises major scientific, ethical, political and societal issues:
  • To ease the sharing and reuse of scientific and technical data
  • To improve the conditions of validation and reproducibility of work and guarantee the ‘objectivity’ of knowledge
  • To facilitate exchanges,  circulation of ideas and open the way to new methods of investigation
  • To open access to knowledge
  • To promote democracy
  • To restore citizens’ confidence in science
  • To ensure transparency and efficiency of public investments
UBFC’s commitment is fully in line with the recommendations of the National Plan for Open Science 2, which aims to make Open Science a practice shared by all higher education, research and innovation stakeholders.
