SMARTLIGHT platform

® A. Coillet

The SMARTLIGHT project coordinated by UBFC is one of the winners of the EQUIPEX+ 2020 call for projects. This call for projects of the third phase of the Investments for the Future Program (PIA) was dedicated to structuring equipment for research.

Coordinated by Benoit Cluzel, Senior Lecturer in Physics at the University of Burgundy (UB, member of UBFC), this project combines a very high level of scientific excellence and complementary expertise among the members of the Carnot Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Bourgogne (ICB, Joint Research Unit 6303 CNRS-UBFC), and the FEMTO-ST Institute (Franche-Comté Electronics, Mechanics, Thermics and Optics – Sciences and Technologies, UMR 6174 CNRS-UBFC).

The project will merge the photonics platforms of ICB and FEMTO-ST into a shared platform open to scientific and industrial communities working in the field of photonics and artificial intelligence. More than 120 scientists will develop cutting-edge research in nano-optics, ultrafast photonics, fiber optics, nonlinear photonics, quantum optics and telecommunications.

SMARTLIGHT is a research platform with key facilities to generate new knowledge in intelligent photonics, while engaging in industrial innovation. It is based on the merger of the PICASSO platform of the Interdisciplinary Carnot Laboratory of Burgundy (ICB) and Fri-Light of the FEMTO-ST Institute into a shared platform in the BFC region open to scientific and industrial communities working in the field of photonics and artificial intelligence.
