New Year's Greeting of M. Dominique GREVEY, UBFC President - COMUE Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

New Year’s Greeting of M. Dominique GREVEY, UBFC President

Dear colleagues, dear students, dear partners,
ladies and gentlemen,

I extend my heartfelt wishes to you for 2022.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the commitment and trust that motivate me in the wake of the new year.

I remain convinced that UBFC needs to continue accomplishing its mission for Higher Education and Research community of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: to develop and promote research and the link between training and research of our campus.

First, I would like to thank the teams for the work already done in pursuing that goal.

In 2021, they have demonstrated a great ability to adapt and have remained responsive, especially in the public health context that is still challenging.

I wish to acknowledge their contribution, essential to the success of all our campus projects.

I am proud to confirm that UBFC depends on collective and collaborative work. In fact, if each member of our confederation remain independent, sharing and pooling the projects are key to our success… as is our unity.

2021 was a key year for UBFC.

The return to normal, with a whole governance team and milestone events:

  • one disappointment of course with the end of ISITE label;
  • but also many individual and collective successes.

Now let’s look ahead.

In 2022, UBFC and its members will make every effort to roll out the project built together with the community over the past few months.

The aim is mainly to strengthen the scientific signature and the research excellence of our territory.

We will also be focusing on giving a presence on an international level to our campus.

To achieve this, our UBFC community has resources and valuable assets:

  • the power of member institutions and national research organisations;
  • the commitment and professionalism of our teams;
  • the continuous support of local authorities;
  • and the involvement of key partners such as health care facilities.

As Louis Pasteur said “Chance favours only the prepared mind”.

This is what we are accountable for.

For students, developing knowledge and skills will create great professional opportunities.

For researchers, creating good conditions for the development of their scientific potential will help to inform the decisions and contribute to societal debates.

In today’s environment, we must work together.

I therefore hope that 2022 will enable us to further strengthen the ties that bind us and keep on building our future together.

Happy New Year 2022!

And take good care of yourselves
