UMLP holds the “Science With and For Society” (SAPS) label, awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. This label was granted to the “Cooperations” project, co-developed by the Marie et Louis Pasteur University and Bourgogne Europe University, with the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region, the Pavillon des Sciences, and in partnership with INRAE BFC and OCIM.
The Cooperations project is structured into 4 axes, each including diverse actions in close connection with local stakeholders. Discover here the 4 axes of the Cooperations project and their corresponding actions:
Axis 1. Promoting SAPS to serve the scientific community of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
Actions:
Support researchers in integrating science communication into research projects
Train research stakeholders in science communication (principles, methods, applications) through three 1- or 2-day workshops per year
Inform PhD students about the various forms of science communication through two annual introductory days
Axis 2. Rolling out regional actions for the inhabitants of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
Actions:
Connect researchers and non-researchers for all types of collaborations (advice, lectures, support in artistic projects, etc.) via the Hub
Engage with the inhabitants of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (school audiences and general public) through workshops led by early-career researchers (mobile Experimentariums, OVNI, etc.) and science outreach activities in various locations (schools, farms, museums, forests, etc.)
Organize brainstorming sessions through the “Notre idée pour un chercheur” initiative, in which citizens contribute to researchers’ scientific thinking
Support regional participatory science and research projects (PSRP): offer training to PSRP stakeholders, promote PSRP through mediation actions (support for project leaders, exhibitions)
Organize meetings between scientists and policymakers on societal issues, through the Scientific-Political Cooperation Workshops
Axis 3. Contributing to science culture outreach (CSTI) at the national and broader level
Actions:
Coordinate the Great Participatory Experiment, in which the public is invited to contribute (data collection) in the various French cities hosting the annual European Researchers’ Night
Organize the Young Researchers Festival, held each year in a different location, in connection with the Experimentarium network (a network of university sites offering doctoral training in science communication, enabling them to run educational workshops for all audiences)
Axis 4. Engaging in a reflective and shared approach
Actions:
Observe, through the Office for Inter-Museum Cooperation (OCIM), the characteristics of science-society relationships in the region in order to assess and monitor their evolution
Exchange with stakeholders in scientific and technical culture during annual professional events such as the regional CSTI Forum and L’art de la rencontre in Paris
