Chrono-environment Laboratory

History

The Chrono-environment laboratory (UMR 6249 CNRS-UFC) gathers all the necessary skills to meet the challenges raised by the global urgency to manage resources and biodiversity in a sustainable way, for a sustainable development of human populations. As such, the research team has chosen to build the project around the objectives of the international initiative “Future Earth” which promotes the acquisition of knowledge required for a sustainable planetary development, by supporting actions aimed at observing, understanding, and predicting the processes at play within the biogeosphere, human-land-environment interactions over the long term, and past, present and future environmental, ecotoxicological and epidemiological issues.

The coexistence in the laboratory of expertise in life sciences, universal sciences, health sciences, physical and chemical sciences, humanities, and mathematics is, to our knowledge, unique on a national level. The policy of activity around scientific projects and an operation without disciplinary teams allow to federate a significant part of the researchers of the unit, all disciplines included, around common themes and projects, and thus to lead to large interdisciplinary actions.
