The C3S is a host team that promotes sharing of multidisciplinary skills.
Its organization and functioning encourage links that allow the identification of problems and situations as well as the implementation of adapted solutions.
The work and research are grouped under the unifying theme: Culture, sport, health, society.

Three features characterize the host team:
– a federative vision;
– a strong institutional foundation; and
– a greater visibility.

This specificity of working on “frontier subjects” allows for the crossing of perspectives,
the “connection” or the daily back-and-forth between theoretical and field approaches, which is the common lot of any investigation, whatever the field of investigation chosen.

The laboratory’s activities are structured along three main lines:
– anthropology of knowledge and cultural dynamics;
– representations and bodily practices;
– health and Physical and Sports Activities (PSA).

Each of these axes brings together, according to their skills and interests, researchers belonging to the four sections of the ‘Conseil National des Universités’, but without being the exclusive preserve of any particular discipline:
– sociology and demography;
– ethnology, prehistory, biological anthropology;
– educational sciences;
– sciences and techniques of physical and sports activities.
