FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Each agreement is signed for a particular master’s degree. Find out on the map which are the partner universities for your master’s degree.

Contact your master’s supervisors to let them know about your mobility project.

The host university will send you a list of courses already accepted for your master’s degree, or send you a course catalog. Once the learning agreement has been completed, your master’s supervisors will have to validate your choices.

Whether you need a visa or a residence permit depends on your country of origin and your country of destination. Contact UBFC International Relations for more information.

Contact your pedagogical supervisor and the International Relations coordinator without delay. They will get in touch with the host organization if necessary.

> If your destination is in Europe : apply for the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in your Ameli online space. It will allow you to obtain the same reimbursements as the residents of the host country. To supplement your Social Security insurance and be reimbursed up to 100%, you can subscribe to a private mutual (SMERRA, LMDE etc.) or ask your current mutual covering you in France if it can cover you in Europe. Find out about the coverage of health costs according to your country of destination because some Social Securities cover almost all of the costs. > If your destination is outside Europe : if you need care abroad, you will be reimbursed on the basis of French Social Security rates. To supplement your Social Security insurance and be reimbursed up to 100%, subscription to a private mutual (SMERRA, LMDE, etc.) is strongly recommended because health costs can be very high and much more expensive than in France. For example, a general practitioner consultation in the USA costs between $ 80 and $ 100. You will then be reimbursed on the French basis, i.e. € 16.50.Some universities / host organizations require students to take out their own health insurance.

  • You are going to complete a mobility kit including a pedagogical contract. Your pedagogical supervisor at UBFC, his counterpart in the host country, as well as you must sign it in order to agree on the courses taken / the internship program. Be sure to always copy the International Relations Coordinator.
  • Check the validity of your identity card / passport. It must remain valid for at least 6 months after your return to France.
  • Check the need for a visa / residence permit depending on your country of destination and country of origin
  • Check your health coverage (see question 5).
  • Think about your possible notice of accommodation.
  • Notify CAF of your departure if you receive an allowance from them.

With exchange student status, you only pay UBFC registration fee.
