C\u2019est ce qui \u00e9tait jusqu\u2019alors suppos\u00e9, mais une nouvelle \u00e9tude publi\u00e9e dans <em>Nature<\/em> le 17 ao\u00fbt 2022 sugg\u00e8re que non. D\u2019apr\u00e8s les travaux des scientifiques du laboratoire Biog\u00e9osciences (CNRS\/UBFC), en association avec le Departement of Earth and Planetary Sciences de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Californie, ce sont les mouvements des plaques tectoniques qui auraient jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le dans l\u2019oxyg\u00e9nation des oc\u00e9ans. Pour le d\u00e9montrer, les scientifiques ont utilis\u00e9 un mod\u00e8le de climat en trois dimensions pour recr\u00e9er les conditions sur Terre entre moins 540 millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es et aujourd\u2019hui, en prenant notamment en compte les courants de circulation oc\u00e9anique. Dans leur mod\u00e8le, les scientifiques ont fait varier la position des continents tout en gardant la concentration atmosph\u00e9rique en oxyg\u00e8ne constante. R\u00e9sultat, la concentration en oxyg\u00e8ne des oc\u00e9ans augmente, malgr\u00e9 un niveau d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne constant dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, cette nouvelle publication d\u00e9montre donc que ces deux niveaux d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne sont largement ind\u00e9pendants. L\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne \u00e9tant vital aux animaux marins, ces r\u00e9sultats mettent en \u00e9vidence un r\u00f4le jusque-l\u00e0 sous-estim\u00e9 de la tectonique des plaques dans l\u2019\u00e9volution de la biodiversit\u00e9 oc\u00e9anique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle des temps g\u00e9ologiques.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section
