You can also choose to live in a private residence, or in your own flat or flat share. See below \u201cOther types of accommodation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whether in Dijon, Besan\u00e7on, Belfort or Montb\u00e9liard, Crous provides one-bedroom flats with very competitive rents and furnished rooms, which are very popular amongst students. That means that he or she agrees to pay your rent when you are no longer able to do so. In France, almost all owners, whether French or foreign, will ask you for a guarantor. It\u2019s a way for them to make sure they get the rent no matter what.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The VISALE system is a free rental deposit (for students less than 30 years old) set up by the French government. The VISALE certificate is mandatory and will be requested by Crous. You can apply for VISALE as soon as your visa is issued to you on: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr\/envole\/\">https:\/\/www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr\/envole\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubfc.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Procedure_visale_ENG.pdf\">A guide<\/a> to apply for Visale is available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more information regarding Visale, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusfrance.org\/en\/VISALE-free-security-deposit-for-students\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are over 30 years old and do not have a guarantor in France, you will have to subscribe for this service online, on websites such as <a href=\"https:\/\/garantme.fr\/en\">Garantme<\/a> for example. This is not free of charge like Visale, and the price depends on the rent you\u2019ll have to pay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You\u2019ll find\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubfc.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Find-your-guarantor-with-Guarantme.pdf\">here<\/a> a guide to help you apply for a guarantor on Garantme, as this is the website commonly used by students, but feel free to use other websites, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cautioneo.com\/\">Cautioneo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unkle.fr\/en\">Unkle<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smart-garant.com\/?lang=en\">Smart Garant.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-2254\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2254\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Home insurance<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2254\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"4\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2254\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For any accommodation, you will have the legal obligation to take out a home insurance policy covering water damage and fire damage. That insurance is available through specific companies or with your bank (from 1 to 30\u20ac approximately\/month for a room in a university hall). The certificate of home insurance is mandatory and will be requested by Crous.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SMERRA has a 39\u20ac per year insurance, including civil liability, with automatic renewal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">ADHE has different formulas: 22\u20ac per year without civil liability or 30\u20ac per year including civil liability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your French bank can also provide this service; get in touch with them in order to know their prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prices for housing insurance will vary in accordance to the size of the accommodation, or the additional options you will select.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-2255\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2255\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-caret-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-caret-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">Additional charges<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2255\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"5\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2255\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you rent a room in a university residence, the price for electricity, gas, wifi are included in your rent and you will not have to take out an additional subscription. Indeed, renting a place in France allows you to request financial support <strong><u>if you are staying in France for more than 3 months<\/u><\/strong>. You have to apply to the \u201cAide Personnalis\u00e9e au Logement\u201d (APL) granted by the Caisse des Affaires Familiales (CAF).
